Everything to know about Aatmanirbhar Skilled Employee-Employer Mapping (ASEEM)

To overcome employment woes, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) launched the Aatmanirbhar Skilled Employee Employer Mapping (ASEEM) on July 10, 2020.

What is the ASEEM portal?

The Aatmanirbhar Skilled Employee Employer Mapping (ASEEM) portal is a digital portal that matches the supply of skilled workers with market demand. It works as a skilled workforce directory. It has been developed and managed by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the aegis of the MSDE.

The portal uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to match and connect job seekers to hyper-local jobs. Through the portal, the government seeks to strengthen the career pathways of the skilled and non-skilled workforce by carefully guiding them on their route to achieving industry-relevant skills and in their search for employment.

What does the ASEEM portal have?

The ASEEM portal has three interfaces:

  • Employer Portal:

This section is beneficial for businesses as it helps in candidate selection, employer onboarding, and demand aggregation

  • Dashboard:

This section provides information on trends, analytics, overall migration trends, reports, and so on

  • Candidate Application:

Job seekers create and track their profiles in this section. Here the portal also shares job suggestions with the candidates

What are the features and benefits of the ASEEM portal?

  • ASEEM acts as a live and organic job seeking portal connecting employers with potential employees

  • It provides real-time data analysis of supply and demand patterns in the country, including skills gaps analysis, industry requirements, key consumers, key workforce suppliers, migration patterns, demand per district/state/cluster and multiple career prospects for candidates

  • Candidates across geographies, sectors and job roles can register and upload their data on the portal or the smartphone app to look for jobs within their neighbourhoods

  • The information provided by the ASEEM portal helps policymakers to have enhanced objectivity regarding various sectors. They can then effectively frame and develop policies for the betterment of the economy. For instance, if most people in West Bengal have IT-related skills, the government can help increase the number of IT jobs in the state

  • Agencies, employers and job aggregators looking for a skilled workforce can use the portal to find candidates for various roles and sectors

How do MSMEs benefit from ASEEM?

The hiring of appropriate and relevant skilled and unskilled workers is important for all businesses, but more so for smaller organisations. MSMEs have smaller workforces, and so their employees must be aptly-suited to their given roles. However, finding a skilled workforce can be a problem for MSMEs as workers tend to venture to specific cities, states, or bigger organisations. ASEEM can help MSMEs bridge the gap in their workforce by connecting them to the best candidates as discerned by machine learning and AI processes.

The ASEEM portal houses data pertaining to lakhs of workers. Machine learning and AI help connect businesses with the best possible job candidates. MSMEs can also search, access, and filter candidates based on their requirements.

Businesses get incredible data-driven insight into workforce supply-demand trends and gaps. They can access high-quality and curated information under a single portal. So, the ASEEM portal can help MSMEs to accurately assess the availability of the skilled workforce and structure their hiring plans accordingly.

The takeaway

Effective hiring is one piece of the puzzle for a successful business. An abundance of successful businesses can ultimately lead to a successful economy. Registering with the ASEEM portal can be the first step to success for MSMEs as it provides comprehensive support to organisations looking for the best candidates and data-driven insight.
