What is a Cheque Deposit Slip?
A cheque deposit slip is a form provided by banks to depositors for the purpose of depositing cheques into their accounts. This slip serves as a record of the transaction and contains essential information required by the bank to process the payment. How Does A Bank Cheque Deposit Slip Work?
The process of depositing a cheque using a cheque slip involves several steps:
Obtain the Deposit Slip: As a depositor you can collect a cheque slip either from the bank branch, at select ATMs, or through the bank’s online portal.
Cheque slip filling: Fill out the required fields on the deposit slip, including your account information, cheque details, and signature.
Attach the Cheque: Attach the cheque to the deposit slip. Ensure that the information on the cheque matches the details provided on the deposit slip to avoid processing delays or errors.
Submit the Cheque: You can now deposit the cheque based on your chosen deposit method. At banks, you can drop it in the cheque drop box or present it at the cash/deposit counter.
Obtain the receipt: The cheque deposit slip comprises a perforation – one part is deposited in the bank, while you can stamp the other and save it as a receipt.
