Coverage

Here are the details of the coverage for Two Wheeler Insurance policy:

  • Loss of or Damage to the Vehicle Insured:
    Loss of or damage to your vehicle caused by any one of the following events:
    • Accident by external means
    • Burglary, house break-in or theft
    • Fire, explosion, self ignition, lightning
    • Terrorism, riots, strikes, malicious acts
    • Transit by road, rail, inland waterways, air or lift
    • Earthquake, flood, storm, landslide or rockslide
  • Liability To Third Parties:
    The policy would also cover any legal liability arising out of injury to or death of a third party and property damage of a third party in case of an accident involving your vehicle.
  • Personal Accident Cover For Owner-Driver:
    The two wheeler insurance policy also provides for a mandatory Personal Accident Cover for Owner Driver for an amount of Rs. 1 Lac covering Accidental Death and Permanent Total Disability.
  • Sum Insured:
    The two wheeler insurance coverage for your Vehicle would depend on the manufacturer's listed selling price less depreciation for each year or the IDV (Insured's Declared Value). The IDV would be the maximum amount payable in the event of a claim for Total Loss / constructive total loss.
  • The premium on your Two Wheeler Insurance policy would depend on:
    • Year of manufacture
    • Vehicle model
    • Cubic capacity
    • Place of registration
    • Ex-showroom price of the vehicle
    • No claim bonus percentage, if applicable
    • Previous claims history

Exclusions

  • General ageing, wear and tear
  • Damage by a person driving without a valid driving license
  • Mechanical or electrical breakdown, failure
  • Damage by a person driving under the influence of liquor/alcohol/drugs
  • Depreciation, any consequential loss
  • Loss/damage attributable to war/mutiny/nuclear risks
  • Damage to tyres and tubes unless the vehicle is damaged at the same time in which case the liability of the company shall be limited to 50% of the cost of replacement
  • Loss/damage, outside india

Claims Procedure

In the event of any claim, call HDFC ERGO’s toll free helpline no. 022 6234 6234 / 0120 6234 6234 and register your claim at the earliest. Once you provide your policy number as reference and register the claim, follow the procedure as below:

  • Request for help with towing/ambulance services (if required) and claim formalities
  • If the vehicle can be driven, take it to the nearest dealer/garage
  • Get a repair estimate, fill up the claim form and attach a copy of the Registration Certificate and license of the person driving the vehicle at the time of the accident
  • Avail of the ‘Cashless Claims’ facility in a garage within our network. However, if the garage is outside the purview of our network, you will have to get the claim reimbursed subsequently
  • Pay for non-accident related repairs, depreciation and a small deductible
  • Sign the repairer’s satisfaction voucher

The Claim form and other documents related to the nature of loss can be collected from you by HDFC ERGO personnel. Alternatively, you may send them to HDFC ERGO Claims Processing Cell at the following address:

The documents required to process the claim are as follows:

In case of an Accident:

  • Duly filled and signed claim form
  • Registration Certificate (RC)
  • Driving license of the person driving at the time of the accident
  • Policy copy
  • Original repair estimate, repair invoice and payment receipt for non-cashless claims
  • Original repair invoice for cashless claims

In case of Theft:

  • Duly filled and signed claim form
  • Registration Certificate (RC)
  • Original policy copy
  • Copy of FIR (First Information Report) lodged at the nearest police station
  • All original keys
  • 'No trace report' confirming that the stolen vehicle is not traceable

In case of a Legal Liability Claim:

  • Duly filled and signed claim form
  • Registration Certificate (RC)
  • Driving license of the person driving at the time of the accident
  • Original policy copy
  • Copy of FIR (First Information Report) lodged at the nearest police station
  • Legal notice (if received by you)
  • Vakalatnama – authorising us to handle the case on your behalf
