HDFC ERGO’s STANDARD FIRE AND SPECIAL PERILS POLICY
Fire insurance Policy covers all immovable and movable property located in a particular premise such as Buildings, plant and machinery, furniture, fixtures, fittings and other contents, stocks and stock in process along with goods held in trust or on commission.

What does this Policy cover?

This Policy covers loss or damage to the insured assets resulting from:

  • Fire, Lightning
  • Explosion/ Implosion
  • Aircraft Damage
  • Riot, Strike, Malicious Damage
  • Storm, Typhoon, Hurricane, Tornado, Flood and Inundation
  • Impact damage
  • Subsidence and landslide including Rock slide
  • Bursting and overflowing of water tanks, apparatus and Pipes
  • Missile testing operations
  • Leakage from Automatic Sprinkler Installation
  • Bush Fire


Some Optional Extensions :

  • Architects, Surveyors and Consulting Engineers Fees (in excess of 3% of claim amount)
  • Debris Removal (in excess of 1% of claim amount)
  • Forest Fire
  • Impact damage due to insured's owns vehicles, Fork lifts, Cranes, Stackers and the like
  • Spontaneous Combustion
  • Omission to insure addition alterations and extensions
  • Earthquake (Fire & Shock)
  • Loss of Rent
  • Terrorism damage
  • Escalation


Broad Exclusions :

Loss or damage resulting from:

  • Fire due to own fermentation, natural heating or spontaneous combustion of the stocks or by their undergoing any heating or drying process
  • Burning by order of any Public Authority, War, Pollution etc.
  • Pressure waves generated by aircraft
  • Burglary, house breaking, theft, larceny arising out of riot, strike, malicious damage
  • Impact damages by rail/road vehicle/animal belonging to the insured or employee or any occupant on the premises
  • Normal cracking, settlement, bedding down, up heaving of land/structures, coastal or river erosion, defective design, workmanship or use of defective materials

FAQs

When does my policy get into force?
Your insurance cover starts from the commencement date indicated on the policy schedule, this could be any selected date (not later than 15 days) after date of payment of premium.

Can a HUF / Leased (Mahada/ Cidco) property be insured?
If you have financial interest in the property as owner or leaser then you can insure the property.

How to get claim reimbursement?
Register your claim within 7 days of hospitalization and send us a duly signed claim form along with all the mentioned documents within 15 days and you are done. The approved claim will be paid within 30 days.

What happens to the standard fire and special perils policy, if the insured house is sold?
From the time the transfer of ownership becomes effective, the policy stands cancelled & the insured ceases to be an insured under the policy. We will then refund the premium for the balance insured period.

What happens after the home insurance claim is registered?
Surveyor contacts the customer in 48 hours time. Claim form is sent to customer correspondence address within 7 working days time.

Will the company pay for debris removal during the reconstruction of the property? If yes how much?
Yes, the company will pay a maximum of 1% of the total claims amount for debris removal.
