HDFC Bank Parivartan Renovates 49 Anganwadi Centres in Kerala

Ernakulam, Kerala, December 7, 2023: HDFC Bank, India’s leading private sector bank today announced that it has successfully renovated and handed over 49 Anganwadi centres at Ernakulam in Kerala. The renovation of Anganwadis, done under the Bank’s CSR brand Parivartan, aims to enhance early childhood education in rural areas.
Sri. K.N. Unnikrishnan, Hon'ble MLA from Vypeen, Kerala inaugurated the Anganwadi centres at Panchayat Hall, Nayarambalam in the presence of senior officials from HDFC Bank and M S Swaminathan Research Foundation, the implementing partner of the project. Under the Parivartan pillar of Promotion of Education, the Bank provided advanced equipment, toys and education games to the Anganwadi centres. In addition, the Bank helped install paintings, floor mats, tables, and puzzle mats to evoke the interest of children who come to these centres.
Ms Nusrat Pathan, Head-CSR, HDFC Bank said, “Anganwadi centres are the first points of contact for underprivileged rural children beyond their families. It is significant that the Anganwadis be the hub of not only maternal and childcare but also cultural centres for young kids. Education is the cornerstone of sustainable development. With our support to Ernakulam Anganwadi centres, we are contributing towards building bright futures for the younger generation and are thus making a meaningful difference in the lives of local population.”
HDFC Bank's CSR is implemented under the aegis of Parivartan, which is the umbrella brand for all its social initiatives. It focusses on five areas: Rural Development, Promotion of Education, Skill Training and Livelihood Enhancement, Healthcare and Hygiene, and Financial Literacy and Inclusion. As of June 2023, HDFC Bank Parivartan has impacted over 39 lakh lives in Kerala through various interventions.
HDFC Bank was among the top CSR spenders in the country for the financial year ended March 2023. As on 31st March 2023, the Bank spent Rs 820.89 crore on CSR initiatives across the country. The Bank also expanded its impact by reaching more than 9.93 crore beneficiaries cumulatively as of March 2023 in the entire nation.
