HDFC Bank to deploy two ‘Bank on Wheels’ vans in Ayodhya to enable ease of banking

Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, January 17, 2024: HDFC Bank, India’s leading private bank, today deployed two state of the art ‘Bank on Wheels’ vans across Ayodhya which will offer all kind of banking services. This is being done to bring simplified banking services for customers and visitors arriving in the city for the consecration ceremony of the Shri Ram Temple. The new initiative will see the deployment of HDFC Bank’s ‘Bank on Wheels’ from January 17 to January 31, 2024. The vans will offer in all several commercial and personal banking products and services, including Cash Deposit and withdrawal facilities, Foreign Exchange amongst a host of other products.

Ayodhya is expected to emerge as a major tourism destination and this in turn is expected to give a fillip to the economy in and around the city.

The ‘Bank on Wheels’ was flagged off by Mr Vishal Singh IAS, Municipal Commissioner in the presence of other officials including officers from Ayodhya Nagar Nigam and Ayodhya Development Authority.

Commenting on the occasion Mr. Akhilesh Kumar Roy, Branch Banking Head – Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand said, “HDFC Bank has always believed in offering its products and services keeping customer convenience as the cornerstone. This is the rationale for deploying the Bank on Wheels in Ayodhya and bringing in ease of banking to residents and tourists alike.”

As of December 31, 2023, the Bank’s distribution network in Uttar Pradesh was at 791 branches and 1391 ATMs (including CRM) across 80 cities / towns. The Bank’s 60% of branches in the state are in semi-urban and rural areas. Further, according to the State Level Banker’s Committee (SLBC) report, as of September 30, 2023, the bank’s total business in Uttar Pradesh stands at Rs 2,81,639, marking a year-on-year growth of 53 per cent.
