3 Tasks to Complete Before December 31, 2023

26 December, 2023

With the new year around the corner, many new regulatory updates are expected to be in place. The government has mandated certain tasks to be completed by citizens, the due dates for which have been extended to December 31, 2023. Let’s check out the changes that will take place and the requirements you need to adhere to before you proceed to celebrate New Year 2024.

1) Bank locker agreement

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) requires all locker holders to sign a revised bank locker agreement by December 31, 2023. Your bank lockers will be frozen in case you fail to sign the bank locker agreement by the prescribed deadline. The deadline was already extended by a year for the convenience of bank customers as per the new locker agreement guidelines.

2) Aadhaar changes for free

The last date to make free updates to Aadhaar card details online was December 14, 2023. After this, you will have to pay ₹50 for making any changes in the Aadhaar details. As per the recent notification by the UIDAI, the date to make Aadhaar card updates free of cost has now been extended to March 14, 2024.

3) No paper-based KYC for SIM cards

The Department of Telecommunication (DoT) has notified that the paper-based Know Your Customer (KYC) process will be eliminated from January 1, 2024, making the process entirely digital. Thus, you won’t have to face any hassle of filling out a paper form to complete KYC for SIM cards.

How to change Aadhaar details

You can avail of the facility of free Aadhaar updates till March 14, 2024. Here’s how you can update your Aadhaar details online:

  1. Visit the official website of UIDAI for Aadhaar.
