The Reimbursement Account will enable you to separate your regular monthly salary from the monthly reimbursements you receive from your company. Since you may not want to mix your cash reimbursements with your salary, you will be able to track these individually through your Reimbursement Account.
As you already have an introduction for your salary account, a separate introduction would not be necessary.
You need to mention your salary account number & your existing debit card number on the Account Opening Document (AOD) to ensure linkage of the debit card to your Reimbursement Account.
The Reimbursement Account has to be in the same order as your salary savings account. In case your salary savings account is a joint one then a separate introduction is not required. You only need to add the name in the AOD.
So will I be able to access both my accounts at all establishments / ATMs through my existing debit card?
Your existing card will be linked to both accounts. Any additional card will be charged at the regular rates. At HDFC Bank ATMs you will have the option of selecting either account for transacting. At other VISA/PLUS ATMs (Other Banks" ATMs) you may or may not have access to both accounts. Where such option is not available, you can only access your salary account. VISA Electron Debit cardholders can access only the Salary Account at merchant locations & not the Reimbursement Account for transactions. Maestro Debit Cardholders may be able to select between the Salary Account and Reimbursement Account at merchant locations.
